Introduction to Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl(Copyright 1956 by Albert Hackett, Frances Goodrich Hackett and Otto Frank)
GOING INTO HIDING:
If you were told you had to go into hiding…where would you go? Who would you trust to help you?
What would you miss the most, if you had to leave the life you’re currently living? Why?
What might you try to do to make your hiding place feel more like “home”? Why would that be important?
What would you pack?

“Preoccupied by the thought of going into hiding, I stuck the craziest things in the satchel, but I’m not sorry. Memories mean more to mean than dreses" -Anne Frank.
JOURNALING:
10 minute timer: You’re being forced out of your home. Fill your suitcase with what you’d like to take with you.
What will you take with you and why?
How does it feel to be under such a time limit and such pressure?
What did you feel while you were asked to pack those items?

“Writing in a diary is a really strange experience for someone like me. Not only because I’ve never written anything before, but also because it seems to me that later on neither I nor anyone else will be interested in the musings of a thirteen year-old school girl” -Anne Frank.
How do we learn new information?
From personal experiences.
From other’s experiences.
How do you decide what you write in your journal today? (Imagine you have one)
Technology changes what forms “journals” appear. What forms of "journaling" can you think of?
Who’s personal journal from today could you forsee becoming a piece of our history? (specific name or general person). Would you want to read it? Why?
